Statement of Philosophy – ‘Photography of Opportunity ’

It’s about the world as I see it, and sharing that vision. As I travel through my environment, within the 360 degrees surrounding me there appear vignettes of colour and shadow that stand out from the cacophony of images that strike me at every instant. When I am fortunate enough to identify such an image, I look to interpret what I see and to capture it to share. A single bud in a carpet of violet blooms, or a play of intersecting lines of a suspension bridge; a juxtaposition of organic and structural form, or the inquisitive gaze of a child; these are my sources for image vignettes that I look to discover and form the fundamental basis of my ‘photography of opportunity’. To not necessarily pose, or wait for the perfect shot but to realize the fascinating within the ordinary; this is what my art form means to me.
